Frequently Asked Questions

Will I receive confirmation of my registration?
Yes. Your confirmation will be emailed to the email address you provided on your online registration form.
Can I switch my registration from one race to another?
Yes, but only if the race you want to switch to is not already sold out. You will be charged the difference in entry fees in effect at the time of upgrading (e.g., half marathon to marathon). If downgrading — from the marathon to half marathon, for example — a refund will not be provided.

To switch races, email

Please note:
  • requests to switch races will not be considered after November 15
  • a participant who completes a race other than the one for which he/she is registered will not be eligible for any awards (i.e., not be listed as a finisher with an official time)
Can I transfer or give my bib number to another participant?
The SJMMW has a no transfer policy. It is imperative that the registration data associated with your bib number does, in fact, belong to you, the participant. If race organizers become aware that a runner has participated in one of our events with a bib that is not registered to that runner, both the runner and the person to whom the bib is registered will be prohibited from participating in subsequent St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend events for a minimum of two years.
Can I pick up my race number and packet on race day?
No. Race-day packet pickup is not available for any race. Your packet must be picked up in person during the Expo.
Are refunds available?
The SJMMW has a no refund, no transfer and no deferment policy.
What are the age restrictions?
You must be at least 16 years old to participate in the full marathon, at least 14 years old to participate in the half marathon and at least 11 years old to participate in the marathon relay. There is no minimum age to participate in the St. Jude Memphis 5K, but participants 11 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult. The kids marathon is restricted to children 11 years of age and younger and they must be accompanied by an adult. For all races, if the participant is under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign the registration form. Proof of age may be required.
How do I change a relay team member?
If a team member must leave the team, contact We’ll remove the team member and refund the member's registration fee. Please allow 5-10 days for the refund to post to your credit card. The deadline to receive a refund is 11/15/2015. Replacement team members must contact to register. The new team member will be required to pay the registration fee.
Is St. Jude the event sponsor?
No, the marathon is a collaborative effort of St. Jude and Memphis Runners Track Club (MRTC).
Do all event proceeds go to St. Jude?
We do our best to keep costs at a minimum, but, as with any major event, there is a cost associated with all SJMMW events. Once all fees are paid for the event's production, any remaining proceeds do go back to the hospital. The best way to contribute money to St. Jude is to raise funds as a St. Jude Hero.
Are the races capped? Why?
Yes. Registrations will be limited to ensure the safety and best race experience for our participants.
